Mr It. A. Hawkins, of Blenheim, writes stating that should a shipping service be established between Kaikoura and AVellington, it would be of great benefit to pig-raisers. He would be prepared to put in a weighingmachine, and transport pigs from the farm to the wharf, where farmers could inspect weights, and pay-cut at the wharf. He concludes: “Considerably more pigs are required to meet the demand.” The weekly session of the Workers’ Educational Association was held on AVodnosday night at tho residence of Mr and Mrs J. A|. Johnstone, when those present listened to the reading of three of Susan Glasgill’s one-act plays, the loader being Mr AV. AleD. Baker. The next session will be hold at. tho residence of Air and Airs F. S. 11. Warner, the subject to be discussed being Gilbert and Sullivan’s opeia, ‘‘The Gondoliers,” Airs E. J. Watts to be the leader.
