ANNUAL BALL. | The annual ball of the Cheviot Unturned Soldiers’ Association, which was held in ibe Public Hall on Friday evening, Tully maintained the high standard of previous years and was a most successful and enjoyable function. There was a large attendance, all parts of the district being fully represented, while a number of visitors from other parts also attended. The decorations, which were carried out by Mrs F. D. Childs and helpers, struck an entirely new note and consisted entirely of greenery and paper flowers artistically arranged, and with the soft light of numerous Chinese lanterns a very fine effect was obtained. The Grand March was led by the president of the Association, Mr C. F. Holton and Miss M. Bosomworth, the dance music was supplied by Fred Smith’s Orchestra (Christchurch), and extras were played by Mr M. Dunnage and Mr A. Struthers (Christchurch). The lounge was comfortably furnished for non-dancers and sitting out, and supper was expeditiously served by a strong ladies’ committee under the direction of Mrs G. Struthers. The president, Mr C.
