FLYERS RETURN McGREGOR AND WALKER . WARM RECEPTION. (Per Press Assn.) WELLINGTON, Last Night. Among the very large number of passengers who arrived in Wellington by the Monowai from Sydney to-day. none received a more hearty welcome than McGregor and Walker, who narrowly missed flying into third place Jr the handicap section of the Centenary Air Race, in the light aeroplane rum-, inated by tbe Manawatu Aero Club. Four ’planes from tbe Club flew to Wellington from Palmerston North, and before larding, continued about five miies out to sea to greet the steamer, over which a bouquet was dropped. The aviators were extended a warm welcome at the wharf. They made their first public appearance' at Palmerston North land. on Wednesday, are commencing a tour of New Zealand.
I Walker said that on the section from || Darwin to Newcastle Waters, they had I to follow tracks on tbe ground in the I absence of landmarks, but even as low I as 200 feet their view of the ground wap so bad that they could not. find ♦heir bearing and had to land at Brunette Downs.
