King Alexander's Funeral Queen and Young King Lead Procession Reed 11 45 a.m. Belgrade, Oct 18 King Alexander’s funeral procession traversed the street without the slightest hitch or incident through enormous crowds, who had been waiting all night.

An impressively simple service was held in the Cathedral, at which King Peter sat on a black draped throne, his legs dangling, and his face pale and serious. The coffin was borne on a gun carriage to the station, where there was a march past of troops, the engine and coach carrying the coffin being draped in black.

Winners of the Yugoslavian Victoria Cross bore Alexander’s coffin to the marble church at Topola.

Queen Marie and King Peter led the mourners in the procession, and showed splendid fortitude until the coffin was being lowered into the grave. They then broke down, and, with others, were unable to restrain their emotions.
