FIRE DAMAGE

TO FREEZING WORKS. GOOD SAVE. (Per United Fm Ann.) AUCKLAND, Last. Night. Damage estimated at about £IOOO was caused to the building, plant and stock of the works of the Westfield Freezing Company by fire this morning. A good save was effected by the Ellerslie, Mount Wellington and Onehunga lire brigades, assisted by the staff brigade, the fire being confined to one room on the top floor of the main block of buildings. Tbe fireproof doors prevented the flames from spreading to other parts of the building: and although tbe heavy doors were blistered by the heat, little water reached tbe lower floors.

The stock is insured with Lloyds and the buildings with various local companies.
