Mr H Jones of Hokitika, was a •visitor to Reef ton to-day. A London cable states.--Advice has been received from Valence of the death of Madame Curie, the discovenr of radium . Mr J.MeEwin, Battery Superin" teudent at the Blackwater Mines* was a visitor to Reefton yesterday* and looks to have made a splendid recovery, from his serious accident. Mr Jack Kearns, of the National Bank Staff, Wellington, is at present in Iveefton with his wife.and family, spending his annual leave with his parents, Mr and Mrs Thos. Kean s. of Golden Point.
The death of Mr William WaUere Ross, the oldest identity of Ngahere, occurred at the Grey Hospital yesterday afternoon. Deceased was born at Ngahere 64 years atjo, and spent h s lifetime there, being engaged for m .r y years as a carter and contractor. A man cf mist estimable character, he rook a lively interest in local affairs, tnd will be a great loss to the district. Besides his wife, he leaves a family of six daughters and two sons.
