FIERCE GALES
SHIPS BATTERED. FLEET MANOEUVRES. (United Press Assn. —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) LONDON, March 15. A fierce Atlantic gale so battered several ships participating in the fleet manoeuvres off Gibxalter jfchat they were forced to seek 'port. Two seamen were lost. The weather forbid the Bed Fleet, representing the British Isles, from using aircraft against the Blue Fleet, representing the imaginary Continent, South West Azores, but the manoeuvres were carried on in the teeth of the gale until 2.30 p.m., resulting decisively in favour of the Bed Fleet, defeating the Blue Fleet’s attempts to secure a base on the Portuguese coast to Mock Mediterranean traffic, having already blocked the Atlantic routes. The Blue destroyers were the only arm in which they were superior. *
