LABOUR AMENDMENTS DEFEATED. (United Press Assn —By Electric Australian Press Assn. LONDON, October 25. A similar Labour Amendment to omit duties on fresh fruit, was negative by 274 to 68. Mr Rbys Davies moved, to exclude unwrougbt copper from the schedule, on the ground that it was taxing raw material, but Mr Chamberlain resisted, explaining that the duty on foreign cop per was intended to be (prohibitive, as Empire producers should be able to supi',)'ly all Britain's needs at world prices. The amendment was defeated by 246 to 55.

Amid cheers, the Chancellor introduced the Ottawa Agreements’ Bill, which was read a first time.
