From Mining Registrar re Residence Site Licenses dealt with dur* ing November, 1931 Received From A D Marsden respecting his intention to undertake research J work at his farm Received From Commissioner of Crown Lands forwarding particulars of land transactions in the County for month of November Received From Secretary Inangahua Hospital Board requesting that an aps pointment be made to fill the vacancy on the Board occasioned by the death of the late David McKane. Mr W. F Archer appointed to the vacancy. From W J Morris forwarding copy of application lodged for special Claim in Block XIV Reefton S D, Receivedi No objection to be lodged as long as County roads are not affected From District Engineer, Public Works Department re application for tramway across Reefton-Maruia Road by Messrs Power and Party. Matter left to County Clerk to ascertain Council’s liability in the matter.

From Clerk, Westland County Council on matter of Hawkers and Pedlars By-law Received Frem F G Reid Ltd quoting for collars for 1932. Moved that the supply of Dog Collars be obtained from F G Reid Ltd, at price quoted. From Minister of Public Works, H E Holland, J O’Brien, E F Healy, R W Hawke M.’P, Hon M Fagan M.L.C., Secretary N.Z, Sheepewners’ Federation aud Organiser Canterbury Progress League re Lewis Pass Road, Received. , From Chairman No 12 Bistrict Highways Council on matter of Traffic Inspector. Received. From Chairman Main Highways Board and trom Assistant Under Secretary Public Works Department re Springs Junction to Pot Springs Road. Moved that the Main Highways’ be informed that the Council’s finances will not permit of the maintenance of the above road except by assistance from the Highway funds. Carried.

From District Engineer Public Works Department re Mair’s Bridge, Maruia. Received-

From same re Williscroft’s Bridge Received.

From F W Greig asking for employment on Boundary Road, Maruia Moved that application be made for authority for expenditure of grant for Boundary Road by the County Council and that local labour be engaged on the works. From V C Palmer asking for attention to Palmer’s Road. That the Foreman be instructed to report on the road to next meeting of the Council.

From Miss M A Wills asking that water be cut off from premises Buller Road Granted.

From Secretary Reefton Public Picnic asking for use of County Lorry on 26th inst. Request be granted, the lorry to be in charge of County driver, or some one approved by the Foreman. From J D Andrews re the tarring of Andrew’s Bridge, Matter to be left in the hands of the Foreman to have the work done under No 5 Scheme.

From G J Dick re Creek running through his property at Walsh Street. Matter referred to the Foreman for report.

From Adams and Johnson asking that Victoria Range track be cleared to Kir win’s Hill. Moved that two men be employed en the track for one weekThe Foreman’s report was read and received.

Moved that the County Foreman and Public Works Engineer confer with a view of eliminating the two bridges in ReeftonsMaruia Road above Crushington by constructing a wall to block the overflow. The work to be done under No 5 Scheme Moved that Mr Hampscra be supplied with crates to prevent eresi.on- Carried

Moved that 152 feet of pipes be purchased from Mr Newton at the price quoted viz 2/3 per foot. Cars ried

Moved that W, Harvey be ap» pointed under the Foreman to supers vise the unemployed men at a wage of 15/- per day. Carried Moved that Mr D W Robertson be appointed Assistant Traffic Inspector from the date of closing the office until the Reefton Races are held, remuneration at .the rate of 15s per day. Carried Moved that Mr Lester be authorised to expend the sum of £4 in providing an approach to main road Station Creek, Carried Moved that an additional man be employed on Reefton —Maruia Road 9 Mile Junction, Moved that the Public Works Department be asked on what terms they would lend the motor grader for use on Maruia Road,

Moved that the Foreman be voted a bonus of £S in recognition of work done during the year, Carried Moved that the attention of the Main Highways Council be drawn to the dangerous curve at Roberts’ corner at Waitahu, Carried

Moved that P J Molloy be appointed Dog Tax Collector for next year on the same terms as last year. Resolved that a special meeting of the Council be held on January 22nd to fix the statutory closing day under the Shops and Offices Act, Resolved that the County Offices be closed for Christmas and New Year holidays from 25th December to 12th January, 1932,

Before the meeting closed the Chairman wished the members and staff the compliments of the Season,

The accounts were pissed for payment and the meeting closed,
