(United Press Assn.) WELLINGTON, Last Night. An apparent increase of 462 in unem ployment registrations wa» shown for the week ended August 17th, wdien the total was 49,132. The Minister of Labour states the number of men placed under No 5 Scheme -was 32,978. a total of 4948 engaged under Scheme 4A, and 1115 under Scheme 48. Men for whom no work was provid ed, numbered 10,091, but many of these would be standing down under the requirement of Scheme 5, that they should do so in one week out of each four, while others would be of a class that was not employable owing io their inability to undertake manual work.
