LAWS GOVERNING THE SAME. ENGLISH UNION’S SUGGESTION * NOT FAVOURED BY OTAGO 1 Per Press Assn. j DUNEDIN, East night... ' A special meeting of tie Committee j of 'the Otago Rugby Union was held this evening. The Chairman, Mr W. Brown, said ( that the business to be considered was a request contained in a letter from the New Zealand Rugby Union. The letter was read as follows : “ The English Rugby Football Union (Twick enham) has forwarded to us a copy of a resolution which was adopted by the International Board last March and which reads, As a condition precedent to consideration of the creation of consultative body under the supreme control of this Board, that all Dominion Unions should agree to adopt the laws of the game as framed by the International Board.’* The New Zealand Union asked Otago Union whether it was agreeable to ac cept the condition contained in the resolution, which course of action was recommended by the English Union. After a lengthy discussion, the foi- i lowing resolution was carried: “In the opinion of this Committee, it is desirable, *n the interests of the game of Rugby Union football throughout the i Empire, that an Imperial Advisory Board should be created, this body to be the supreme authority in matters concerning Imperial Rugby football. i As proposed, the Consultative Body i would be under the control of the ■ International Board which is composed 1 of representatives from the English, Scottish, Irish and Welsh Unions only. ' This Committee is of opinion that nothing would be gained by the creation ef y a body such as is suggested by the resolution of the International Board, n This committee is further of the opin*‘- ; that it is desirable that uniform rule e should be played 'throughout the Km v A - .. k. - • ••
