THE SAMOAN TROUBLE.
BOTOOTT BEHOG FORCED. GURR NOT WANTED BY AMERICA APIA, January 26. The latest development of the Man is a boycott of storekeepers throughout Samoa. A hundred uniformed Mau men, carrying big sticks, parade the Apia streets and prevent Samoans patronising Apia stores proper. The ‘ polic® warned the Mau that their action was illegal. Farther developments are expected.
The failure of Gurr to leave Samoa within the avowed thirty days has rendered him liable to arrest, but a ■parole was granted on condition that he keeps out of Apia, communicates •with no natives and leaves by the -Tokua for N*w Zealand in February. Gurr announced that he was settling in American Samoa, but the American Governor announced that Gurr would hot be allowed to land there.
