The Chronicle statts that the American Ambassador approached the Porte, and offered to transport to Am rica the whole cf the Americans driven out of their homes.
The Ambassador offered personally a million dollars and to find another four millions in the United States to cover the co?t.

Turks Positions on ligris Captured
LONDON, Oct 2
Official-After three days' fighting we dislodged ihe Turks from a position on both banks of the Tigris, seven miks below Kutelamara.
The northern defences were carried by a gallant assault. The Turks fought with th greatest tenacity and were dislodged trench by trench,, Their losses in dead were severe.
The Turks fled to Bagdad. .We occupied Kutulamara and made prisoners of 1650. ~ The enemy's trenches were elaborate and extended miles, with an extensive mine system. Our casualties were 500, mostly light wounds.
