Christchurch, May n Replying to a deputatioo at Lees, too the Hon Mr Millar said siid it was not the intention, of the Railway Department to ' build elaborate siaiions throughout the country. What was wanted was an ample platform and office accommodation. Me had requests for n£w stations all over the' Dominion bufc' the' cost roust be met out of the revenue and only a ceriain amount was available. Only four or five would be replaced this year audit was* jmpossible to do more owing to the restriction of exp:»iditufe to moneys from revenue and he could easily spend a million this year on renewal of stations and yards hut the desire was bounded by the funds available.
