Per Press Associativa. • TRENTHAM, March 6. The weather conditions to-day area repetition of the two previous days, but it is excessively hot. Excellent conditions prevail for the shooting. After the early morning mist lifted, when the squads were lined up preparatory to marching off, Col. Collins was greeted w'th 1 applause when he announced that fin extra Lioo had been allocated to the prize list, LSO to be divided as a Consolation Match for those who had not won Li, and from the mst place to the 100 th in the Championship final, The Colonel also eulogised upon the excellent entry, which, taken in comparison with the size of the coufltry, was greater than the Bisley Meeting with their millions of population to draw from. He hoped to see the day when our meeting would be equal to Bisley. The shooting commenced today with the Service Matches at 200 and 500 yards. In the former, snap " shooting, the targets are exposed seven times, each exposure being for three seconds with irregular intervals between - exposure varying from 5 to 30 seconds. A target with an 8 inch bull's eye is invisible to the firer, the bull's eye onlv counting to decide ties, each hit on the figure scoring 5 points. In the 500 yards Rapid Firing, the target has the same dimen- < sionsand divisions as ordinary second class target. As the scores are taken at the butts, the winners will possibly not be available for the evening papers.
