CAULFIELD CUP ENQUIRY.

Melbourne, Oct 26. ; 1 It is believed that the true story regarding the running of the Caulfield Cup is not yet disclosed. It is stated tfrat R. Cleland, the dtvner of Apologue, being upset at the result of the race, suggested to ; the y.A.T.C. Committee to hold an enquiry* . The suggestion was not received favourably and J. Cleland then demanded an enquiry. The Committee after consideration, replied that they would hold an enquiry if Cleland would pay, all expenses of the same. Cleland is | now considering the Committee's proposal. In any case; Coffey, who rode Apologue in the Caulfield' Cup, is not likely to ride ' the New Zealander in the Mel- > bourne Cup.

May King was pulled up slightly lame after winning the Mooney Valley Cup.
