A deposit of ,£SOO has paid by the negotiators for the purchase of the Aorere mine, Kuaotucu, by an English Company. A deposit was paid for Edward's freehold, Karangahake ; a deposit of £500 was also paid in London by the negotiators for the purchase of the Coromandel Freehold

We learn that several parties have proceeded to the Landing Creek district for the purpose of pegging out ground. The locality is a likely one, being on the line of the Caledonian reef at Larry's Creek, and there is abundance of quartz cropping out of the sidelings. A very rich find has been unearthed at Redbank, Wattle Flat, by Messrs . Cox and McPeake. Three days' work resulted in obtaining 75 ounces. Sinking about 14ft on the vein, which averages 5 feet thick, they were then rewarded with 300 ounces from 15 buckets of ptone. The mine has been christened the " Monte Christo."
