THE Inangahua Times PUBLISHED DAILY. WEDNESDAY, APRIL 20, 1892.
Whoevebos responsible for the publication <$F' the letters between the Misses Bpunsevell and Deeming has been guilfj^of execrable taste and we are glad to gfjohat a strong section of the Press ofp?the colonies has not only strongly jfenounced the proceeding, but has mmj my cases refrained from republishiE I the letters. The publication of tl pae letters was quite unnecessary. Hjcould throw no light upon the misd oi the criminal unless, indeed, i $)e that it still further shows his hypodiasy. Their perusal can only satisfy mat morbid curiosity which characteiises the public upon such occasions i rand their publication was thereforeia harsh and reprehensible action, Uf which not even a shadow of excuse ci |t be offered. We say harsh, because : £is harsh to allow the world to read 1 Jtfcers m which an innocent and conl Sing woman unburdens her thoughts Ito the man she has designed for her jjtusband. Her position, and also the position of her relatives, is indeed a painful one, and it ill becomes any mari, even a newspaper man who is eager lo supply the public with news, to add ti the injury which the unfortunate Jamily have suffered. The wonder k that the authorities did not step iv sad prevent such an outrage upon thw wounded feelings of a respectable farfiily.
