The branch of the Irish National League has declined to accede to the request of Dillon to invite Davitt to make a tour of the colonies in the interest of the evicted tenants, until the breach in the party is healed. Two brothers named Adolphus and Joseph Dixon quarrelled and came to blows. The former armed himself with an axe and th<3 latter with a bayonet, whioh he drove into his brother's brain through the eye, killing him instantly. Brisbane, April 17. The Legislative Council has passed the Polynesian Labor Bill. Treasury bills amounting to £875,000 have been taken up in the colony. Melbourne, April 17. Wilson, the Government expert, who has returned from New Zealand, reports that Victoria is much behind New Zealand in cheese making, but is well up in butter making. Received April 18, at 7.80 a.m. Melbourne April, 18. Deeming was examined by four doctors, who declare that he 13 perfectly sane. It is understood that his line of defence will ba instructive criminality, not, insanity.
