Yesterday being dedicated to St. Andrew, the patron saint of Scotland, the banks will oommemorate the same by observing holiday to-day, There was a good attendance in the cricket field on Saturday. A scratch match was played, but we have been unable to obtain the scores. Mr Jamea Knight, of Black's Point, wTiom it will be remembered met with an accident some time ago which necessitated the amputation of one of his feet, died from blood poisoning on Saturday last. He leaves a widow and two chi'dren. The funeral will take place this afternoon. The following dividends were declared on Saturday : Globe (20th), sixpenoe per share, £900. Progress (3rd), one shilling per share, £1,200. The Volunteer Band will assemble at Eater's Hotel this afternoon at 1.30 o'clock, for the purpose of attending the funeral of their late comrade, Volunteer Knight. The Inangahua Rifles and Cadets will mutter at the drill shed at 2 o'clock sharp. The Sir Charlea Eussell Company invite tenders for the carriage of from ten to 4 twenty ton 3of quartz from their mine to the Keep-it-Dark battery. See advertisement. By latest advice from Nelson we regret to learn that Bishop Suter still lies in a very precarious state. His medical advisers are of. opinion that perfect rest for at least three months is absolutely necessary to enable his Lordship to recover.
