j . Public Nutioe& " Li,vPß of great men all ri mind us, ' We can make onr lives aubhu o ; f and, depnrf ing, Jeave behind us footprints on the sands of time." rpBB! above is read with great interest by JL thoueanas of' young men. It inspired J fhc-n. with Hope, for in the bright lexicon ol ' youth tti ere. is no such word as fail, alas! Pay maßy* this is correct, — is true with regard to the youth who lm never abneed h« strength- nnd to the man who has not been ' passions slave.' But to. that youth, to that man who has wasted his vigor, who bos yielded himself up to the temp6rary sweet- allurements of vice who bus given unbridled licence to his passions, to him the above lines are but as a rep* iach. What Hope c»n he have P What aspii itions P What ehunee of leaving his fcotp ititg on the eande of time ? For him, alee! thireis nought but dark despair and self-re rt ach for a lost life. For i man to leave his footprints on the Bands o.' time, he must be endowed with a strong brain and nervous power. He must possess a sound, vigorous, healthy mind, in a healthy body —the power to conceive— the energy to execute! But look at our Australian youth ! Sec the emaciatt 1 form, the vaciint look, the listless eeitating manner, the nervous distrust, the senseless, almost idiotic expression. Note his demeanour and conversation, and then gay, Is that a man to leave his footprints on the sands of time. Do parents, medical men and educators of youth pay sufficient attention to this sub* jectP Do they ever ascertain the cause oi this decay ; and having done «o, do they (as a strict sense of duty demands) -eek the skilled advice of the medical man, who has mnde this branch of his profession his particular speciality, whose life has been devoted to the treatment of theso oases P Reader, what is yow answer P Let each one answer for himself, Parents see their progeny fading gradually before their eight, pee them become emaciated old young men, broken down in health, enfeebled, unfitted for the battle of life; yet one word might save them, ooe sound and vigorous heaith-giving loiter from a medical nan, habituated to the treatment aud continuous supervision of such cases wou! i, in most instances, succeed in warning off tiie impending doom Of a miserable and gloomy future, and by appropriate treatment restore *ho enervated system to its natural vigor, aii , ensure ajo.»ous and happy life Dr 1., f .
