HOSPITAL CARNIVAL.
Hie annual demonstnation under the anapices of the committee of the Hospital took place oil Saturday last, and attracted a verj largo gathering. Ai 12 noon the various friendly aocitities in fall regalia assembled at the Orffellows Hall, and, headed by the Beefton band in uniform marched in procession to the ground. The day was . all that conld be wished, but the attentendance of ladips was not so large as expected. The uand took up n position on the and during the day discoursed aomn excellent music. Dancing on the green vs-ns freely indulged in, old and young alike joining in the pastime. The committee had a rcfivshment booth, which waa N managed }>y a number of the residents and fairly well patronised. The w!ieel-of-fortnue worked in the interest of the fund did good liQsincss, and the proceeds from this source went to swell the receipts commierably. An Anut Sally, arrayed in th« latest Paris fashions, attracted uudm'vohs admirer?, and was the object of ' many attentions (if a more or less tender natai-p. Altogether a most » enjoyable day was spent, and thero is rpasan to believe that the institution ; will benefit substantially by the ; gathering. The running for the hospital handicap was rcmai'kably good, ' and the closeness or the finishes bore nrople testimony to the f-xcrllenc* of Mr Lecher's handicapping.
