MURRAY' CREEK.
(FROM OUB MINING HEPOTF.U.) VENUS. Wi?dneßiuy, sth Juno, This mino being ono of tho latest von* lures in tlio Murray Crook portion of tho district, and from whioh a trial orushing Ims just boon mado» i$ is of somo satisfaction to stuto that so far tho opening of thin olflim hits proyo^ a deoidod buoooss. Indcod it is questionable vf hothor any mino on tjhis field has been opened, «o oasily, and vv ith so trifling a cost, and tho rosult proving equally' flUoopSHful. %i may bo horo statod' that in constructing tho wholo of tho wor^s inoluding shafts, tunnollinff, paddocks, shootfli whim, inolino, tramwav, and, a\\ othor oppliancos to placo tho mino in roaduioas for prnshing opojratipns only ncoessitatod tho calling up of ono shilling por sorip. During tho time tho company has oooupiod tho batto'ry 80,0 tons of stono woro pagsod through, tho first throo hundrod wcro oxooodingly poor being much broken, nnd ob^iinod mostly in prospcoting. Tho other flro hundred tons proved to bo cf much superior quality, tho avcrago return for tho eight hundred 'tons boing about twelve ponnyvoights to tho ton. Tho amount of gold thus admits of a dividend of qixpoiKjo to bo doolarod. Tho situation of tho raino in rolation to tho machino is not as favorablo as could bo dosirod tho wholo of tho stono having to bo drawn up an inolino tramway over throo hundred foot in length by moans of a whim whioh procoss can bo thprqughly understood as a great disadvantage. This together with tho fact of tho plono being only of modiura quality spoaks volume* for tho mannbr in which tho general opornUons hnvo boon carried out and tho rusull h»3 givon tho utmost satisfaction. Tho slopes at the present timo Show a very fair quantity of stono and id the course of another month tho compnny will bo in a poHition to eominenco orusliins; nauin. I]ho opening of this mine hns so far prpvod a very successful undertaking.
