[yno-JI OTTB MINING BEPOItTEB.J persuvkkance. Wkiwtksj>at. Deceinbpr J2 1 . Tn rxrcordaiife with the statement ol my last week's report I mad* a sp owl visit to the mine this mornnig. I» tlfn last infornnitiou fnrnKslied upon the pros' | peels of liiis mine, it wus stated tliab n | very atronij body of stone had been nli&uly proved for nearly 100 feet in length, then operations have been continued upon the same lord, and at'tnt driviun only about eight or ten feet tl«* i stone made its appearance au*iu, and lias 1 now been followed for nearby 60 feel, there beinsj between aix nnd seven fet't ol a face of quart a this morning Without i;iving a minute detail of ail the drive; and uprisest and shaHs wliidi have al various times been constructed, it maj simply be stated tlmt for over 160 feet « uoi>d ptH'raanjMit reef is proved, varying | from tlu*ee i to seven feet thick and some of the stone undoubtedly* discloses excel* ient uold r but whether the entire- bulk will give an areraire yield to make the mine <i 1 profitable investment lias yelj to be proved. The situation of tbe iaiae and the vast body of s-o&e nlready shown tc exist with tjold so far risible, ofiEera very, fireat irvducenient indeed to deserve :i fair trial, as I have no hesitation in statit>H that notwithstanding the distance ol the mine from the Dauntless Company's battery, with proper and efficient means of 6ra sit of the stone to the crushing buttery, half an ounce to the ton will give au handsome margin. A portioa ol the line is nearly completed, and a main receiving piddoek is in course of construction. The distance now to connect the mine with the head ot the Company's tramway is 51 chains, a work that will cost between £400 and £§0G and which I understand is to- be commeueed forthwith. WEALTH "OF NATIONS. A Co4»tract for extending tunnel 300 feet has been let and commenced. The price is £1 8s 6tl per foot for ordinary driving in the event of stone being struck, £2 3s Gd while in quartz* Nothing new from the mine, NIL DBSPEUANDfTM. The whole of the winding gear is in first rate order and works exceedingly well. The reefs is gradually improving and continues to show very good gold. ENERGETIC. The easts reef lately intersected main" tain* about the average thickness men* Honed last week, and carries excellent metal.
