THE TURCORUSSIAN WAR. At Plovna the Russians Roumanian Saps are close to the first Turkish parallel, Tho Turks revictualled Plevna on Sep» tember 23rd, sending twenty battalions of infantry, two field butteries, and a regi* mont of cavalry into the works. Russian loss before Plevna to Septom* ber 24th 2500 killed and wounded. September 12.' Russians attacked Plevna and carried two detachod redoubts, and central Gravilzka redoubt after great carnage. Osman Pasha drove General Skobeloff out-flanking from tho redoubts after being occupied 24 hours. Skobeloff's command was cut to pieoes. Reinforcements were refused to him. Osman Pasha failed to retake tho Gra** vitzka redoubt. In a subsequent night attack tho Roumanians woro repulsed with great slaughter in an assault on the second Gravitzka redoubt. Sinco these actions there has boon no fighting before Plovna. All is quiet at Shipka Pass. Mohemet AH is commanding the Eastern Bulgarian army. September 20th. In the fighting on that day, and tho 21st tho Turks failed at all points, and foil back to their fo»mer position beyond tho Lorn. A largo army is collecting afc Orchanie for the relief of Plevna. Heavy fighting occurred from 2nd to 4th October inclusive, between tho Grand Duko Nicholas and Mukhtar P.isha. Tho Russians failed in their object to but off Mukhtar Paslm from Bas. Loses on both sides over 10,000. Russians admit a toss since commence" ment to date of 52.000 killed and wounded. Tha Montenegrins are everywhere vie« torious in Horzegovnia half of which they occupy. An attack by thorn on the" Albanian frontier failed. Servia and Greece are aro preparing for war with Turkey. Trade in England and America is reviving numerous failures, Savings banks and extensive frauds in America. Nez« Perces war closed after a sharp fight, the chief, Joseph surrendt r ;d. War with Moxicb is imminent and hostilities may begin any moment on the Mexican borders, owing to encroachments and lawlessness by Mexican bands. Storm on tho Atlantic coast on October 4th, resultod in wrocks and serious des* truction of property. A special session of tho House of Commons meets on the 15th to make appropriations for tho army.
