THE REEFTON HOSPITAL.

i [TO THE EDITOR IKANGAHpA, TIME 3.] Sitf.-i-I 'sco by the report of tbe last meeting, published in your last paper, that the minors of the Inangahua" are blamed for not contributing to the

Hospital as they should do. As a miner 1 1 and ono who has always considered that i his contribution to the hospital is a deht 1 of honor, and therefore have paid it i regularly and promptly, I cannot, in , common with many others on the field, help feeling agrievod at the sweeping reproach which has been oast upon the miners a,s a- body. I should have much preferred to have seen the saddle put upon the right horse, and so not leave it to be supposed that all are equally in default. As for the argument; put forth that the Commjttea should make an active canvas, I do not consider that any miner should try and excuse his negligence on that ground, as it is not one man's duty more than anothers to go about- begging for subscriptions which every miner worthy of the name is bound in conscience and in honor to pay, without waiting to have the money wrung out of him by a collector. It looks too much like " I'll subscribe if I can't help it." 1 That's not the apirit in which miners, or any of the number, should entertain for such an institution. The office of the Secretary of the Hospital is well known, and any man wishing to subscribe may easily do so. I suggest that at the end of this) month a list be published allowing the names of all persons subscribing to that date. T : bis is done at Ross, and ha 9 a good effect. « I im, &c, WeliiVViskeb.
