KEEP IT-DARK.

I Wednesday, August 1. The, past month's proceedings of th|s mine having produced such a very favorable result, and the present appearance of the various workings being altogether so. promising, the shareholders may indeed be congratulated upon the very encouraging aspect their affairs have at length assumed. The quantity of stone sent to the battery last month may be cpnsidered of fair average quality, portion of it having been taken from (be uprise now in course of construction, and the remainder from the first stope opened above the main drive. The result shows an average. return of about J2|dwts to t.he ton, and the working expenses must certainly be anything but excessive, for notwithstanding several stoppages having occurred, thereby preventing the stamps being kept in constant action, the company has in the face of the slight draw* backs paid from tb,e result of last month's work four hundred pounds on account of the debt entailed by the purchase of the Crushing Company's battery, and have also disbursed some three hundred and sixty pounds in dividends. Thi§ amount being profit on one month's crushing from an average yield of 12dwt stone, with the employment of only fifteen stamps, ajlovring also for sundry stoppacros, mu-it certainly be considered as a h,is»lily satisfactory issue. The reef at the. present time is so far proved that some thousand* of tons of stone may be calculated upon from the present level. The block of stone now being^ operated upon has been proved in length for 140 feet, and an , uprise constructed for 70 feet, showing in the roof this morning eleven feet of clean stone, Preparations are now being made to sink fmm the surface to meet the rise, and when this is completed it is most probable the full number of stamps will be occupied for a very lengthened period.
