ANDERSON'S EXTENDED.

During the last fortnight the daily operations have been watched with intense interest and every hour's work seems to strengthen the belief that the £ northern block will be shown to exist > again . and a most favorable opinion is 7 generally held that the mine will yet be brought to a profitable issue. The last ' report stated tbat a cross cut was to be ' constructed on the intermediate level with ♦ the expectation of cutting the lode about 40 feet lower down than the point where it is exposed in the old winze. This work has been proceeded with and taken in 5 about 17 feet at which distance the stone has been expected to be met with, bat the lode not having as yet made its appearance Ibe stone in the winze has been sunk ' on some four feet further, and shows the ' reef to be underlaying to the east considerably more than was at first anlicipa* ted, thus rendering it necessary to ex* ' tend the oross-ont about 15 feet further, and the work of which is now being energetically pushed forward. Stone of really excellent quality has during the past week been met with from the winze ' and the mine has been visited by numerous ' persons every day among which some of f our best experienced men who are thoroughly acquainted with the characteristics of the gold bearing lodes of this dis- ' triot and it is admitted throughout that [ the main portion of the reef as exposed is [ really well defined, bears a most favorable appearance and it will be a most remarkable freak of formation if it does not live r down. A. few days more will decide, I in the meantime the result of every day's , proceedings is looked forward to with p considerable interest.
