A Terrible fire broke out at Lagos on 30th January, by which one-tbird of the town, including two churches, was destroyed. The fire was still burning when the Loanda left on January 31. The fire was caused by the reckless discharge of firearms by the natives, daring one of their celebrations. The damage was estimated at 4UAOOO. Seven prcsons were killed. What everybody says must be ten*.
