EUROPEAN. THE TUR.CO-RUS.^IAN. WAR The following cablegram fr>m ; Europe was received at the Sydney Telegraph-office after mid-night on the 14th instant : — London, May 13. The Roumanian Chamber of Dp* puties has passed a resolution to authorise securing the independence of Roumania. Tiie accounts concerning, the reported battle of Rein have not yet < been, confirmed. The Russian batteries at Ibaila (Brailow) have sunk a Turkish irou ironclad *$ith. two hundred men. Ofiii-i.il despatches state that Russian troops haye arrived at Dudiu (probably Widin.) Turkish official accounts state that Russian army corps unsuccessfully attacked the entrenchments near Batoun? (hardly possible to be Balkan) but were repulsed -yith the loss of forty thousand men. The British squadrou has been or» dered to Port Said.
