[BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH.] [PBB PBE33 ASSOCIATION.] Westpobt, May 12. A tidal wave occurred here yesterday, at 2.30 p.m., and also at 6 pm,, when it rose six feet in three minutes. No damage was done, except the washing away of some house material at the wharfage works. The wave still continues, but slight. The management of tho Albion Coal Company, at Ngakawau, haa been transferred from Nelson to Dunedin , Messrs. Larnacb, Oliver, Turnbull, Proudfoot, and Broderick, are on the new directory. The first business will be to decide an offer of Messrs. Henderson and Co., to construct branch works connecting tho mine with the Hount Eochfort Railway. WiLLiifaroiT, May 12. In the Supremo Court, this morning, the Chief Justice delivered judgment in the case of Hammon v. Public Trustee, in which one creditor endeavoured to recover from a Life Insurance policy, which Robert Spark Lowe, a bankrupt, had effected with the Victoria Assurance Company, prior to his decease. Lowe left a widow and five children, and the point involved was, whether a policy of insurance is protected to the family from the creditors on the death of assured. The Court ruled that it was, and judgment with costs was given in favour of defendant.
