The County Council apparently is not i inclined to be baulked by trifles in its desire to obtain a portion of the Court House Reserve for the use of the Council. Thwarted by tbo Nelson' Waste Lands Board ihe Council has re- ' solved : to carry the application to headquarters. As Mr Kennedy, M.H.R., is at the present time in Wellington it would, we think, be wise on the part of the Council to depute j that gentlenian to personally intervievy; the Minister of Public Works upon the subject. The necessity for the erection of a new Court House at Reefton has already been urged upon i the Minuter of Justice, and a half promise obtained that the subject should receiye the earliest possible attention. A renewal, therefore, of the application io^ the form suggested might projbjably ipduce the Government to proceed with, the. building, in : which cap 6 the use of the present Court House would no doubt be handed oyer to the County. But in any case there, is ipore ttjpn sufficient room upon the reserve for all the public buildings we are. likely t,o be favored with by the General Government for many years to come, and this being so there is no reason why the Council should be shut out of itj However, nothing can be lost by racing the application proposed, and we are sure the Council \yill see at once the advisability, of enlisting the aid, of our representative to the request.
