HERALD MISSTATEMENTS AGAIN.

[TO THB EDtTOB INANQAHUA TIMES ] Sib,— -Again has reference to be made to the wilful and corrupt errors of your (Contemporary. It appears that the fellow who $ots as town veporter for tbat paper cannot convey a truthful account to the public Of the ordinary business of tbe Connty Conncil, his cunning proclivities precluding the possibility of doing so in any matter, unless where toadyism is rampant. In his report of the Council's proceedings yesterday he, in a barefaced, Iving manner, tells the public that Mr . John M'Sherrv's account for services rendered as a valuator for the County wss passed, and Mr Hankin's account referred back for correction as excessive. As far as my account i* concerned the statement is correct, I admit, but the wilful misstatement r e M'Sherry 's is another matter, Let it be understood by those who are uninitiated in the mysteries of iduplicity and double dealing, that the ; fellow referred to, w'mhes to conrt the favor of the parties (as he terms them;, whom he has in every way stigmatised and opposed, for the reason that they are necessary to his very existence in this quarter at all events. And his every action in that direction let me advise him '» thoroughly approved, appreciated, and admired, and must of necessity culminate in a covering of glory on his leaving the district, consisting, I hope, of an illuminated address and a purse of soys. •; Men of my stamp" are usually magnanimous even to enemies. I am. Ac. Hbnbv Geo. HankinReefton, April 12th, 1877.
