We fear lhat Sir J. Yogel will be requesled to instruct the Solicitor-General to appear for all the defendants. Hokitika, Feb. 3. On the steamer Charles Edward leaving port a week ago a sailor named Chambers was missing. A. human body has been since washed ashore near Greymouth which is believed to be his. The banks this week exported upwards of six thousand ounces of gold, the produce of this district including Kumara. The ball snd banquet to the representative volunteers was held last night in the Town Hall and Volunteer Hall, which was connected by a temporary arcade. Two hundred persons were present, and the affair was a great success. The presentation of the prizes takes place to-day at noon.
