At the 8.45 inspection there were no signs of fire, and at 9.20, when aU were abed, the baildiog was burnin** so rapidly -bat none of the occupants had time ta clothe themselves. The fire probably ori^uated between the floors. There were forty-eight boarders in the convent. Thirteen perished ia the flames. Their names are— Angele Dauphin, aged 63-. Elizabeth Gravel, aged 19; _ur» Louise Geffrey, aged 10; Pomella Desmario, aged 9 ; Mare Drolet, aged 10 ; Leo GoUbalt, aged 7 ; Georgina Lavaiee, aged 10; Luaana Lavalee, aged 10} Bosanna Massaa, aged 10 ; Delina Mnsaan, aged 11, of St. Thomas; and Melina Joly, of Sc. JSelix. At one o'clock eight bodies | had been recovered, all Darned to ». ; crisp. &>me of the parents were present, seeming to recognise their children by the fragments of clothing dinging to their bodies. Eliaabethnine miles from Joilliette, and was under the management of the Sisters of Provi-*---dence. The commuoity bnilding formed two wings, the sisters and fifty lady boarders occupying one, while the other was occupied by some fifty orphans and infirm persons. The straetore wm onr of wood.
