KEEP IT DARK.

Although this mine has been under a steady course of operations for the last throe years, and during that period it has at times commanded a considerable share ofiublio attention, it may certainly be stated that the company's prospects at the present time are of a far more encou* ragiug character than heretofore, and the result of every day's proceedings appears to cause a steady advance in the price of shares, and the mine is now estimated as a meat valuable property. For the last fortnight the reef hns maintained a uniform thickness of about seven feet, and during that time the main level has been extended abou* 20 feet, carrying still a really solid and well foruied body of clean stone with two excellent walls. The rise has been taken up for 40 feet, and also continues to hold a fine looking reef, and with every indication of holding good for a considerable distance. As a proof of the marked improvement in the general appearance of the mine of late, a few weeks ago shares were sold at sixpence, and 5s 6d are now offered with no sellers. The reef being now shown to exist in splendid form in the rise for over 40 feet, and also for considerably over 100 feet on the main level is undoubtedly a most important item, and every foot the level is extended carries further into the body of tbe hill, and into more solid country, thus giving a greater height of backs than at the point the stone was first intersected, and a body of quartz of the dimensions as already stated and so far proved that the works can be carried on with the grea'est facility. A yield of half an ounce to the ton will unquestionably give good dividends, and it is confidently stated at the machine house that the present crushing, which may be set down as a fair average, will yield the above amount.
