WATER SUPPLY.
i [TO THE EDITOS INANGAIEUA TIMES.] g IR> — One of the very first questions 1 (after that of drainage) which should oc--1 cupy the attention of the County Council, 1 is that of water supply. I think it would be one step in the way if the Council were to offer a sum of money as a bonus for the best practicable scheme for providing the town. It cannot bo denied that this is a question which the Council will have to face sooner or later, and members will be pursuing a wise course by taking action in the matter at once. Or if that proposal was not accepted, why not guarantee a free right and monopoly for a certain term to anyone who would undertake to . bring water in ? It must be patent to everybody that the well water of the town is becoming more and more filthy every year, and as good water is one of the very first adjuncts to good health, the Council will be neglecting one of its raost vital duties by continuing to shelve this question. Hoping that the subject will receive attention, I remain, yours &c, " Publicoi4." Reefton, January 31st, 1877.
