A man enfered the Chigago Tribune office and left the following advertisement !— •• Personal.— The advertiser desires to makes the acquaintance of a lady of refinement, five feet four and a half inches high, and weighing about 1361b5 ; bust measure, thirty-nine inches; waist measure, twenty-eight and three-quarter inches ; size of boot, three and a quarter ; ditto, of glove, five and seven-eights j com* plesion pronounced brunette j deep hasel eyes ; with a view to matrimony. Address W., 1798 Tribune office." " Seems to me you are mighty particular about the I size and kind of wife you want," observed the advertising clerk. "Well, perhaps I am, but you see my wife died before we had been married long, and she haden't begun to half wear out her clothes | , and her father gave her an awful sight of j 'em, so it seems to me kinder like flying in the face of Providence when silks and things are so dear and the country is la» [ boring in the throes of a financial con- , vulsion to take another mate, and let the , moths break through and rust and cor» rupt all them duds. So I jnst want a wife to match those things."
