STORM DAMAGE

CONDITIONAL SUBSIDY COUNCIL TO BORROW COUNTY’S SHARE £1661 Application to the Loans Board for ■permission to raise a sum of £1661 had been made by the Coromandel County Council, said the clerk, Mr J. H. Lucas, at the December meeting of the council.

Mr Lucas explained that the Government subsidy of £3 for £1 in respect of storm damage done in May last Was conditional upon the council finding its share of the money. It was not possible for the council to take that amount from revenue and so recourse was necessary to the Loans Board for permission to borrow the council’s share.
