SEASON OPENS
RAILWAY TENNIS CLUB GOOD ATTENDANCE There was a good attendance of members at the opening of the Paeroa Railway Tennis Club’s courts visitors also being present from Netherton and the Paeroa Lawn Tennis Club. The president, Mr A. Stevenson, welcomed all and expressed the hope that the season would prove as successful as the previous one. After an enjoyable afternoon tea had been served by the ladies of the club, Mrs Stevenson was called upon to open the courts by serving the first ball to Mr Sims, club captain. A Yankee tournament was played, the winners being Mr S. Burndred and Mr E. Lee, who played an interesting game for the final with Mr W. Vercoe. JUNIORS OPEN ENJOYABLE MORNING The junior members of the Paeroa Railway Tennis Club opened their season o» Saturday morning, October 7. A Yankee tournament was played, the winners being: Gii'ls, Anne Drummond; boys, Tom Dawson. Morning' tea was served by mothers and friends, which was much appreciated by the children.
