LESS RAGWORT
POSITION ON THE PLAIN S GOOD WORK BY FARMERS REPORT TO COUNTY COUNCIL The opinion that there appeared to be less ragwort on the Hauraki Plains this year was expressed by the noxious weeds inspector, Mr W. J. W. Flint, in a report to the October meeting of the Hauraki Plains County Council.
“In covering my area I have one or two fairly bad patches of ragwort and these are being dealt with. Some
places that were causing some concern last year have been either cleaned or cultivated and takings the whole area generally (although a bit early) there is a big improvement,” stated the report.
“Gorse sprayed on west water reserve is still dying, although the manufacturers claim it can be done at any time of the year. The present indication appears to show that any spraying dope yip winter mohtnk ijpeds r a stronger solution. Proof of this can be seen a.t the reserve. Balance of hemlock has been sprayed at stopibank, Turua, and one private lot,” the report concluded.
