THREE MEN HURT

TRUCK CRASHES INTO DR AIN ACCIDENT AT KOPUARAHI Three men were injured when a light truck, in which they and two others were travelling on the Auck-land-Thames main highway, left the road about 10 o’clock on Saturday night and crashed into a drain on the side of the road at the turn off to Kopuarahi between the Pipiroa ferry and Thames. The injured men were:— Mr Lewis Henry Sherrach, the driver, aged 40, and married, whc received injuries to the right side, concussion and cuts. Mir George Rex Piggott, aged 21, single, chest injuries, concussion and cuts. Mr J. Maddox, aged 18, single, concussion and shock. The other occupants of the truck were Messrs B. Murphy and B. Manuel, who escaped injury. The men were employed by the Forestry Department at Maramarua. Those injured were admitted to the Thames hospital and latest reports are that they are making satisfactory progress. The truck was considerably damaged.
