SCHOOL HOSTELS

FOUR YEARS WAITING LIST NEED FOR ACCOMMODATION A motion that the Government be requested tx> make more accommodation available in the way of hostels for secondary school pupils in the Auckland province was discussed at the meeting held recently in Thames of the executive of Northern Thames sub-province of Federated Farmers. The motion was introduced by the Whangamata-Hikuai branch. In speaking to the motion Mir A. L. Martyn informed the meeting that present accommodation was quite inadequate to meet the needs of districts where secondary schools were not available. He stated that in the Auckland province at a public secondary school there was boarding accommodation for only 120 pupils and that there was a four years waiting list of those seeking accommodation for their children. t < Mr G. C. Donovan, of Whenuakite, supported the remit which was duly carried.
