BROKEN BOTTLES

STREWN along roads INDIGNANT VISITORS A COROMANDEL PROBLEM Broken beer bottles strewn along the main highway for some considerable distance between Thames and Coromandel roused much indignation from visitors and others travelling along that road recently, according to reports received by the Gazette correspondent at Coromandel. At one point no less than five cars were pullled' up whilst their drivers picked up the broken glass to avoid damage to tyres. One,visitor to Coromandel spoke of passing a vehicle, the passengers in which threw out bottles as the vehicle travelled along. Even residents were out picking up the broken glass along the highway. Much indignation has been expressed of recent months .by townspeople of Coromandel at the spectacle of visiting parties which on too many occasions,'have seemed to disregard all sense of responsibility /or behaviour. Such has not been the case with all the visiting teams but disappointment has been expressed at the inability of some of the visiting teams to play well on account of an over indulgence in liquid refreshments. Coromandel players tod, have expressed . considerable annoyance at having to play against some opponents, whose condition is not such as td enable them to play of their best. The people of Coromandel are asking* what can be done about it, writer the Carette correspondent
