CROQUET CLUB
COROMANDEL MEETING ' OPENING ON SEPTEMBER 9 A meeting of the Coromandel Croquet Club was held at Mrs E. M. Lucas’ residence last week when Mrs Scott presided. A letter was read from the Paeroa club asking for delgates to attend a meeting in Paeroa to discuss the suggested formation of a Thames Valley Croquet Association, of which the Coromandel area was a part. A discussion took place in which it was agreed that the club was too isolated to be ablteto link up with any association and membership was such that affiliation war not warranted for the time being. A discussion took place relative to a drive for new members and each member undertook to try and introduce at least one new member. It was decided to hold a working bee on Saturday, September 2, at thegteen and to hold the official opening on Saturday, September 9- .
* In order to augment the funds of the. club it was decided to hold a Paddy’s Market on November 10. Owing to various activities of the members! it was resolved to hold' two club days, Wednesdays and and a learners’ day would be decided upon later. ■ After the meeting closed a very nice afternoon team was served.
