MR & MRS N. DAVIES WELCOMED COROMANDEL BAND ATTENDS On Saturday, August 26, a social evening was held in the Tererenga school, the occasion being a welcome to Mr hnd Mrs Neil Davies, who were recently married and to the new settlers in the district. The Coromandlel' Silver Band, of which Mr Davies is a member, was in attendance and rendered several items in the open air. Dancing occupied the greater part of the evening, Mrs P. Ngamene providing music on the piano, assisted by several extras. The M.C., Mr Eric Gamble, speaking on behalf of the Coromandel Silver Band wished l Mir and Mrs Davies every happiness in the future and presented them with an envelope from band members, adding as well cordial, greetings to the newly arrived settlers, who had' taken up farming land in that area. Other speakers were Messrs H. M. Hawkeswood and/W., Mangakahia, who added words of welcome, and Mesdames J. Hawkeswood and L. Spratt, who each said t* few words on behalf of the women’s organisations. Mr Davies suitably replied on be-, half of his wife and himself while the thanks' of the recently-arrived farmers were capably expressed Mr Tankard. Full justice was done to a most appetising supper and after further dancing the function was brought to a close.
