j BRANCH’S AUGUST MEETING

VARIOUS COMPETITIONS HELD

At the August meeting of the Ngatea branch of the Women’s Division of Federated Farmers the president, Mrs Thomas, presided, the attendance being only fair. The meeting opened' with the creed. Invitations were received from the Pipiroa and Netherton institutes to attend their birthday parties in September.

Mrs L. Sherlock kindly judged the various competitions which resulted: Best bloom, Mrs Keyes, 1; Mrs Hanis, 2; Mrs Thomas, 3. Vase of flowers, Mrs Keyes, 1; Mrs Harris, 2; 'Mrs BiAke, 3. Modern arrangement of flowers, Mrs Harris and Mrs Blake, equal, 1; Mrs Fisher and Mrs Keyes, equal, 2. Best cabbage, Mrs -Keyes, 1; Mrs Blake, 2; Miss M. McWatters, 3. Useful bag, Mrs Blake, 1. ' The roll call: “An interesting place I have visited,” was very well answered.

A competition for a prize given by Mrs Launch was won by Mrs G. Wheeler.

• Hostesses for the day were 'Mrs Erceg and Mrs Harris.' The singing of the national anthem brought a very happy meeting to a close.
