WOMEN’S DIVISION
AUGUST MEETING HELD LARGE COLVILLE GATHERING Mrs R. S. Gaudie presided over a large attendance of members at the August meeting of the Colville branch of the Women’s Division of Federated Farmers. After the financial statement had been given matters of business came up for discussion. It was reported that the garments for the knitting competition had been started and were being passed around to each member to do her share. Regarding the sending of parcels overseas members agreed that the work be entailed for three months. A feeling that a larger and greater effort would be needed in the near future was shared by all. A report of the conference recently held in Wellington was given by Mirs Feek. A glance at the well filled bring and Ibuy tables proved thjat everyone had donated generously and the sum of £l5 to augment memorial hall funds would be handed to the hall committee. Winners of the competitions were J as follows:— Butterless sponge, Mrs G. Caldwell, 1; Mrs C. Gaudie, 2. Marmalade, Mrs C. Gaudie, 1; Mrs A. McNeil, 2. A most delightful afternoon tea brought the day to a close.
