W. DEAN PLAYS WELL

JUNIORS’ GOOD SCORES

DRAW FOR SATURDAY NEXT

Ideal weather and the good condition of the course were reflected in the low scores returned by members of the paeroa Golf Club last weekend.

Three fine performances were put up by junior members in rounds other than the week-end competitions. W. Dean played an excellent round of 79 off a 20 handicap, H. Pearse returned an 85 off 22 and A. G. Boulton registered a 91 off 26. These scores qualified the players for well merited reduction in handicaps. The four best ball bogey handicap played on Saturday was won by Mr R. Thompson and G. S. Masters with a card of five up and the runners up were B. Hunt and M. Young also five tip; the first named pair won on the count back.

A medal handicap also played was won by A. C. Boulton-with a card of 93-26-67 and W. E. Tubman showed

a return to form to fill the second place with a good card of 77-8-69.

Two matches in the senior championship were finalised, H. Morgan defeating L. J. Shaw at the twentieth hole and Ken Morrison defeated R. Sumner three and two.

The first round of the captain’s trophy will be played next Saturday. This 'competition will be in the form of three stableford bogey matches, the aggregate of the best two rounds counting.
