KARITA CANAL
hauraki west district need for reconditioning “As directed at the last board meeting the Karita canal in the West Hauraki area and drains have been inspected and it was found that the Karita canal and the hill collecting drain wanted reconditioning, by dragline as submitted in the drainage board’s estimate,” stated Mr G. Davies, chief engineer of the Hauraki Catchment Board at its July meeting. “An inspection of the drain on the south side of the Waitakaruru-Pipiroa road from the floodgate on Piako river to Dalgety’s corner disclosed that it was in good order and did not want attention or reconditioning just now,” concluded Mr Davies.
